wind on the sea

bull's eye

and when the wind caresses the sea

there are waves.

just as a populist can stroke society

provoke

and trigger waves in the sea of people.

to some it gives the impression a storm is coming;

war.

the rest is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

when it comes to getting paid like Swiss parliamentarians

other countries match the game.

but when it is about submitting themselves to the same rules

as Helvetic parliamentarians are submitted to

such as a collegial presidency comprised of seven equal members

and direct democratic rights such as referenda and initiatives

then parliamentarians from the developing and the rich world don't match up.

the lie of not needing neither

of being fine with their presidential republics

their strong state able to control the people

while they live a good and what seems a successful life

of course with access to the best healthcare

that lie doesn't need to explode

and if it does

whoever follows them will indulge in the same lie

because has never heard of how Swiss politics work

or secretly agrees with Napoleon that a collegial form of governing hinders only big thinking

so

why change

.

because we live only once and we have only one planet

and political inertia and its fatal consequences

lead to frustration, anger and will to use violence

against the loyal followers of the presidential republic.

the good people get pitched up against other good people

divided by their divided elite

too immature after years of decadence to sit together

or still rational enough to sit it out while the people fights it out.

.

and so

i wonder

how the French would have developed under directorial rule

inspired by science

and the by life fought out morals and compromises offered by their philosophers...

( ? )

.

why don't the French see in Napoleon the dictator disrespecting 'la fraternité' ?

refusing to see the options continued collegial leadership could have brought them...

why don't they see that switching back to monopolar rule was betraying the revolution ?

.

or am i so blind to see what good a strong president could have brought to Switzerland

from the introduction of legalization of cannabis

over the promotion of renewable energies and electric cars

to the entry to the European Union

...as well as high public debt

high youth unemployment

and the consistent presence of violent radicalism on the right and the left

( ? )

.

profits are always made on the back of the poor.

the more profits politics allow the entrepreneurs,

the do-ers, the leaders,

the less money or reserves the poor will have in the end

the followers, the workers

the other do-ers

who are happy with a secure job or income, a safe house or flat,

family, friends, neighbours

health and a healthy environment ;

who don't need excess money, fame or status.
